Electro

Electro is music rooted in the early 1980s, characterized by its use of drum machines—especially the Roland TR-808—syncopated rhythms, and robotic or vocoder-style vocals. Emerging from the intersection of funk, hip hop, and electronic experimentation, electro introduced a futuristic, mechanical sound that set it apart from traditional dance music. It often features sharp snares, squelchy basslines, and sci-fi-inspired synths. While its origins lie in the early hip hop scene, electro evolved into a foundational influence on techno, Miami bass, and later electroclash, maintaining a strong underground presence through its raw energy and machine-funk aesthetics.
