Caps Lock Records

caps lock records supports emerging South Australian musicians through the release of publications, records and events with an emphasis on the production of bespoke physical media and creation of environments for the performance, recording and release of music that emphasises DIY, experimental, and lofi approaches to music creation. Our work is guided by a belief in the value of local, tangible, limited runs of physical media and artist-driven releases through pay-what-you-can models like Bandcamp, for sustaining a community-oriented arts ecosystem. We also aim to create places for music in South Australia in underutilised venues that are not inherently tied to nightlife and alcohol, such as Goodwood Books, a feminist/activist bookstore and Somewhere House, a progressive bar and event space. Founded by Louis Campbell (War Room) in 2024, the label is now directed by their bandmate Thea Martin (Twine, Any Young Mechanic, short snarl) and Sam Wilson (Any Young Mechanic) in collaboration with the artists on the compilation records as a collective.
