Aux 88

Aux 88 is a pioneering electro group from Detroit, formed in the early 1990s by Keith Tucker and Tommy Hamilton (aka DJ Dijital and Tom Tom). Fusing elements of classic Detroit techno with the raw energy of electro-funk and hip-hop, Aux 88 revitalized and redefined the electro sound for a new generation.

Heavily inspired by Kraftwerk, Cybotron, and early hip-hop, their music blends futuristic synth work, vocoder vocals, and machine-like rhythms with a deep sense of groove and cultural identity. Aux 88 helped establish the “Techno Bass” movement and were instrumental in preserving Detroit’s electro heritage while pushing the genre forward with a modern edge.

Releases such as Bass Magnetic, Is It Man or Machine?, and their acclaimed Mad Scientist series became blueprints for the genre, with tracks that remain staples in underground DJ sets worldwide. Beyond their own records, they’ve also released music under related projects like Alien FM and Optic Nerve, contributing to a vast and influential body of work.
