Quantum Transposition

Quantum Transposition is Arpanet’s second album, originally released in 2005 on Rephlex. The project is widely attributed to Gerald Donald, known for his role in Drexciya, though he has not publicly confirmed authorship. Authoritative sources such as The Wire and Resident Advisor identify Donald as the producer behind Arpanet, one of several aliases through which he explores themes of science, technology, and telecommunications. This album marks a shift toward more ambient and experimental territory, featuring slower tempos, reduced rhythmic structures, and minimalistic sequencing. The title and track names reference quantum mechanics and scientific concepts, aligning with the project’s conceptual focus. In 2023, Quantum Transposition was remastered for Clone’s Aqualung Series and reissued as a 2×12″ LP with an exclusive additional track from the original sessions, “Superposition–Many Worlds.”
