Om Unit

Om Unit is the alias of Jim Coles, a British electronic music producer and DJ based in Bristol. Initially known as 2tall, Coles began his career in the early 2000s as a turntablist and hip-hop producer. Transitioning to electronic music, he adopted the Om Unit moniker in 2009, releasing his debut EP The Corridor on Terrorhythm Recordings.

Om Unit’s music is characterized by its fusion of various genres, including dubstep, drum and bass, jungle, footwork, and ambient. He is noted for pioneering the blend of Chicago footwork with UK jungle under the alias Philip D Kick. His collaborations include projects like Dream Continuum with Machinedrum and releases on labels such as Civil Music, Metalheadz, and Planet Mu.

In 2011, Coles founded the label Cosmic Bridge, providing a platform for experimental bass music. His discography includes albums like Threads (2013), Inversion (2014), and the Acid Dub Studies series, which explores the intersection of dub and acid house.

Om Unit continues to be an influential figure in the electronic music scene, known for his innovative approach and genre-defying productions.
