PK

The PK series are a limited run of 10″ white-label vinyl releases associated with Rhythm & Sound—the iconic dub techno project by Moritz von Oswald and Mark Ernestus. These records were pressed in the early 2000s and stand out for their minimal packaging, stamp-only labeling, and deep dubwise aesthetics. Though often mistaken as being released on a standalone “PK Records” label, the series is better understood as an anonymous subseries or alternate catalogue run within the Rhythm & Sound universe.

Notable Releases in the PK Series:

  • PK 1 – Unknown Title (2001)

  • PK 2 – Unknown Title

  • PK 3 – King in My Empire (Rhythm & Sound with Cornel Campbell)

  • PK 4 – See Mi Yah (Rhythm & Sound with Jah Cotton)

  • PK 5 – Unknown Title

  • PK 6 – No Partial (Rhythm & Sound)
This is one of the most well-known in the series—originally released in 2001 and later repressed in 2008 and 2016. Deep, slow-burning dub techno with an emphasis on space and weight.

These records typically have no artist names or track titles printed on the label or sleeve, relying on etched matrix codes and minimal stamped branding (just “PK”) for identification. The anonymity and mystique surrounding them added to their underground appeal.

Musically, the PK 10″s explore stripped-back dub grooves, submerged basslines, and hypnotic delay patterns. They’re often slower and even more minimal than the core Rhythm & Sound 12″ releases, leaning heavily into soundsystem tradition with subtle, purposeful production.

Collectors and DJs prize these 10″s for their sonic purity and iconic aesthetic. While not part of a formal label structure, the PK series reflects the duo’s deep connection to vinyl culture, roots reggae, and the tradition of dub plate circulation.
