Transmigration

Transmigration is a Berlin‑based label founded in 2022 by Irish DJ and archivist David Fogarty. It focuses on unearthing and reviving obscure psychedelic, trance, techno, house, and ambient records from the 1990s and early 2000s. By licensing and remastering rare, often forgotten gems alongside carefully curated reissues, the label bridges nostalgic treasure hunts with contemporary listening.

Releases under Transmigration are thoughtfully crafted—typically issued as vinyl or digital EPs—with attention to sonic fidelity and design, reflecting Fogarty’s eclectic DJ sets that often mix the deeper ends of trance, ambient, and techno. Notable reissues include the Elliptical Headz compilation (a 1993 UK trance project), acid techno by Projective Vision, and the soulful Ultra Magnus by Downlink.

Transmigration also features the sub‑label Crystal Ceremony (covering modular techno and ritualistic sounds) and collaborates with Berlin shop Sound Metaphors for exclusive drops and listening events. It operates beyond archival impulses, nurturing a community through record releases, intimate listening parties, and Fogarty’s DJ residency events. The label has rapidly gained credibility for bringing rare historical material back into circulation and recontextualising it for modern underground dance culture.
