Knxwledge

Knxwledge (pronounced “knowledge,” stage name of Glen Boothe) is a Los Angeles–based producer and beat-maker celebrated for his signature lo-fi aesthetic and deeply soulful sound. Rising from the LA beat scene in the early 2010s, he built his reputation through prolific beat tapes like WT.PRT06 and MIDI as MIDI, all self-released on Bandcamp and beloved by crate-diggers.

His music is defined by chopped-up jazz, soul, funk, and cinematic samples looped into intimate, almost drip-like instrumentals. The beats often feel improvised yet precise—woozy drums, crackling vinyl textures, and minimalist arrangements that emphasize groove over flash. As one of the earliest adopters of sample-based abstraction within the beat community, his style influenced a generation of producers.

His breakthrough came with co-founding NxWorries alongside Anderson .Paak: the duo’s EP Link Up & Suede (2015) and LP Yes Lawd! (2016) seamlessly fused Knxwledge’s dusty, offbeat production with Paak’s charismatic vocals. They created a new template for neo-soul-leaning hip-hop.

Knx’s fingerprints appear across influential releases: collaborative gem Hud Dreems (2015), the celebrated 1988 (2020), and standout singles like “So Nice” and “Itkanbe [sonice].” His mix of introspection, analogue warmth, and rhythmic subtlety defines the modern beat aesthetic.

Always forward-thinking and deeply rooted in sampling culture, Knxwledge continues to shape the boundaries of beat-making, pushing underground hip-hop into nuanced, emotive terrain.
