Acid

Acid is a subgenre of electronic music defined by its squelchy, resonant sound—most famously produced by the Roland TB-303 bass synthesizer. Originating in the mid-1980s Chicago house scene, acid quickly developed its own identity, characterized by hypnotic, looping basslines, trippy filter modulations, and stripped-down drum patterns. It later evolved through scenes in the UK and Europe, influencing techno, trance, and experimental electronic styles. Whether raw and minimal or layered and intense, acid remains a powerful expression of underground club culture and electronic innovation.
