Sound Metaphors Records

Sound Metaphors is a Berlin‑based record label and shop founded by Castro Moore and Nemo Ripoll around 2015. The imprint focuses on reissuing and releasing overlooked or underground dancefloor classics from the 1990s onward across genres like house, disco, electro, techno, and reggae.

The label is known for its carefully curated vinyl pressings, often remastering obscure or cult tracks from around the world. It’s closely tied to the in-house sound of the store, which prioritizes bold electronic cuts and rare gems. Among the label’s many sub‑series are focused lines like Sound Metaphors 23, which highlights more experimental and free‑party-adjacent electronic music.

Operating out of Kreuzberg’s Reichenberger Straße, Sound Metaphors also hosts club nights and DJs around Berlin (including events at Panorama Bar), carrying the same ethos of organic, eccentric, and underground sounds into live settings. Over its decade‑long run, the label–shop duo has become a key hub for vinyl enthusiasts, DJs, and collectors seeking deep cuts and reissued tapes of experimental dance music.

Run by two DJs who embed their taste directly into both the shop’s shelves and the label’s catalog, Sound Metaphors has established itself as one of Berlin’s most respected destinations for obscure yet dance‑ready records.
