Zopelar

Zopelar is the alias of Pedro Zopelar, a São Paulo-based musician, producer, and DJ who has become a central figure in Brazil’s electronic music scene. His work blends house, techno, electro, funk, and jazz with Brazilian musical traditions, creating a distinctive sound that bridges analog warmth and contemporary club energy.

Zopelar’s discography includes albums such as Joy of Missing Out (2019) and Universo (2021) on Apron Records, Mensagem (2021) on Soul Clap Records, and Charme (2022) and Ritmo Freak (2024) on Tartelet Records. These releases showcase his versatility, from introspective compositions to dancefloor-ready tracks. His 2024 EP Astral Dynamics, released on Clone’s Royal Oak series, pays homage to classic house traditions while infusing them with his unique touch.

Beyond his solo work, Zopelar has been involved in various collaborative projects. He co-founded the ODD collective, which played a significant role in shaping São Paulo’s underground club culture. He has also collaborated with artists like Benjamin Sallum in the duo My Girlfriend, Márcio Vermelho in Sphynx, and Loïc Koutana in the performance project L’homme Statue. His contributions extend to contemporary art installations, including collaborations featured at the Museum of Modern Art in Rio de Janeiro and the New Museum in New York.

Zopelar’s live performances are known for their energy and narrative depth, often featuring unreleased tracks and edits crafted specifically for each occasion. He has performed at renowned venues and festivals worldwide, including Panorama Bar (Berlin), Blitz Club (Munich), Lux Frágil (Lisbon), Sónar, Dekmantel, CTM, Bahidora, Gop Tun, Whole, Nuits Sonore, DGTL, and the Red Bull Music Academy in Tokyo.
