Dam-Funk

Dam-Funk (real name Damon Sylvester Riddick) is an American producer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist hailing from Pasadena, California. A central figure in modern funk revival and the beat-scene community, he built his reputation through releases on his label Glydezone, as well as through partnerships with Stones Throw Records.

Influenced by 1980s West Coast funk, boogie, and the classic electro-funk era, Dam-Funk produces lush, synthesizer-driven rhythms with deep groove elements like P‑bass, vocoder textures, and analog drum programming. His work is often nostalgic yet forward-thinking, weaving past and present into cohesive, emotionally resonant soundscapes.

Breakthrough projects such as Toeachizown, Invite the Light (with Snoop Dogg as Snoopzilla), and Oh No helped solidify his influence, pushing funk into the mainstream while preserving underground authenticity. He has collaborated with a wide range of artists, including ANDERSON .Paak, Steve Arrington, Flying Lotus, and Harold Faltermeyer, bridging generational gaps.
