King Pari

King Pari is the collaborative funk-soul duo of Minneapolis-born musicians Joe Paris Christensen and Cameron Kinghorn. Rooted in the rich legacy of Twin Cities funk—most notably the Minneapolis sound popularized by Prince—the duo blends minimalist synth arrangements, falsetto vocals, and warm drum groove into their own contemporary vision.

Initially rising through small-run tapes and beat-driven releases, King Pari released their full-length debut There It Goes in 2024 via Stones Throw Records. The album showcases organic, analog textures anchored by songs like “Wait a Minute,” “Somethin’ Somethin’,” “Bag. Full. Of. Cash.,” and “Better the Devil.” Their sound mixes crisp boogie, loose funk improvisation, and psychedelic stylings while honoring their Midwest roots.

Both members worked in the Minneapolis music scene before relocating to Los Angeles, but their ethos remains connected to their hometown—emphasizing groove, understated instrumentation, and a shared lineage with funk’s pioneers. King Pari’s archive includes limited-run singles, beat tapes, and collaborative moments, all united by a nostalgic yet forward-facing aesthetic.

Their music is understated but potent—ideal for fans of bedroom funk, analog soul, and modern interpretations of U.S. funk tradition.
