Tresor

Tresor is a legendary techno record label and club based in Berlin, founded in 1991 by Dimitri Hegemann. Originally housed in an abandoned department store vault, the club and label became the epicenter of the city’s emerging techno scene shortly after the fall of the Berlin Wall. The label is known for releasing pioneering records by both Detroit techno innovators and local Berlin artists, bridging two cultures and helping define the global techno sound.

Over the years Tresor has released influential material from artists like Jeff Mills, Robert Hood, Juan Atkins, Underground Resistance and local figures such as Surgeon, Monolake, Powell, and Marcel Dettmann. The label is celebrated for its raw, industrial-influenced aesthetic—powerful rhythms, cavernous bass, relentless energy—and for bringing together hard-edged electronic music with the gritty atmosphere of post‑unification Berlin.

Tresor continues to operate both as a label and club, currently located in Leipziger Straße. It remains committed to heavyweight techno, consistently issuing new music while also celebrating its heritage through archival releases and special events. As a cultural institution, Tresor has been central to underground electronic music, symbolizing Berlin’s vibrant techno identity and its global influence.
