RS Tangent

RS Tangent is the solo alias of Bristol-based producer Robin Stewart, known for his work as one half of the industrial techno duo Giant Swan. Under this moniker, Stewart delves into a more nuanced and dub-inflected realm of electronic music, exploring the intersections of techno, dub, and experimental sound design.

RS Tangent’s debut release, When A Worm Wears A Wig (2023), introduced listeners to a sound characterized by off-kilter rhythms, textured sonic layers, and a playful yet introspective approach to composition. The album’s tracks, such as “Manic Balance” and “Emperor Worm,” showcase Stewart’s ability to blend abstract soundscapes with rhythmic complexity.

In 2025, Stewart followed up with the EP Crinkle, further refining the RS Tangent sound. This release features tracks like “Stomach” and “Toboggan (IYNLID),” which continue to push the boundaries of dub techno, incorporating elements of pointillistic rhythms and spectral textures. The EP has been noted for its innovative use of dub techniques and its departure from traditional techno structures.

Through RS Tangent, Robin Stewart offers a distinct perspective within the electronic music landscape, merging his background in industrial techno with a deep exploration of dub’s sonic possibilities.
