Binary System is a six-track EP by EDO8, also known as Mr. Portamento, released in 2022 on Clone’s West Coast Series. A veteran of the Dutch electro scene and formerly one half of Cosmic Force, EDO8 returns to solo production with a hardware-driven blend of electro, acid, funk, and techno. The record showcases punchy drum programming, layered analog synths, and syncopated sequencing across tracks like “Voyager,” “Funk Jam,” and “Binary Anthem.” Rooted in the traditions of Detroit techno, Kraftwerk, and 1980s electro, Binary System presents a refined and modern take on machine funk, aligning with the Clone West Coast Series’ focus on groove-oriented, forward-thinking electronic music.
