Three O Three
Three O Three is a high-impact EP by Jochem Paap, released under his Public Energy alias—also known as Speedy J. Originally issued in 1992 on Probe Records, a sublabel of Plus 8, the EP was later re-released in 1997 by Nova Mute and has now been remastered and reissued with updated fidelity. The title track, “Three O Three,” delivers a distorted, driving 303 bassline and pounding percussion, widely regarded as one of the most iconic acid techno tracks of its era. “Hemi-Sync” and “B.S.G.” extend the release’s scope with metallic textures and rhythmically complex structures, combining early 1990s Chicago and Detroit influences with hints of the more experimental direction Paap would pursue later in the decade. The EP captures a pivotal moment in his evolution—bridging raw acid energy with the emerging industrial and abstract sound design that came to define his late-1990s output.
