City Pop is the seventh studio album by Dutch singer, songwriter, and producer Benny Sings, and his first release on Stones Throw Records. Blending smooth pop, gentle funk, jazz-inflected melodies, and laid-back grooves, the album pays tribute to classic Japanese city pop while maintaining Benny’s distinct soft-focus songwriting style.
City Pop was inspired by and written in cities all over the world: New York, LA, Tokyo, Paris, and Benny’s hometown of Amsterdam. That sense of movement and international perspective gives the record a breezy, borderless quality — a soundtrack for daydreaming, driving, or watching the world go by.
