Vertical Ascent
Availability: In stock
Recorded in Berlin and released in mid‑2009, Vertical Ascent represents the Moritz von Oswald Trio at their most expansive and immersive. Featuring Moritz von Oswald (synthesizer, Fender Rhodes, percussion), Max Loderbauer (synthesizers), and Vladislav Delay (metal percussion and live electronic textures), the album captures four long-form “Patterns” born from live improvisations. Each piece unfolds with layered rhythm, lush sub-bass, and gradual build—merging dub techno precision with spontaneous jazz-lab dynamism. “Pattern 1” opens with interlocking metallic grooves and Rhodes melody, while “Pattern 2” drapes into ambient shadow and tense rhythm. “Pattern 3” brightens with tropical overtones and percussive clarity, and “Pattern 4” closes with heavy dub weight and sudden sonic shifts. The result is hypnotic yet dynamic—an album that reveals subtle shifts with each playthrough and stands as a landmark in live-based electronic composition.
