Metro Tribe EP is a 12″ vinyl release by Harmonious Thelonious, the alias of German producer Stefan Schwander. Originally released on December 15, 2020, by the Berlin-based label DISK (catalog number DISK19), the EP was reissued in 2023. The record features five tracks: “Metro Tribe,” “Metro Tribe (Rhythm Edit),” “Yusuf,” “Orientes,” and “Y (2nd Story).” The music blends hypnotic, polyrhythmic structures with influences from North African and Arabic grooves, creating a trance-inducing experience. The EP is noted for its deep club bangers and alternative versions designed to suit selectors’ needs. The artwork includes a 1930s envisioning of an ideal atoll and a drawing of a long-extinct fish skeleton, reflecting the artist’s playful approach to exoticism.
