Originally released in 2007, Kilode (Carl Craig Reworks) presents Tony Allen’s Afrobeat classic “Kilode” transformed through energetic and precision-crafted Detroit house remixes by Carl Craig. The A-side Carl Craig remix expands the original into a driving, urgent piece—featuring stretched vocals, extended live-style percussion, and new electronic accents that deconstruct and reimagine the melody and rhythm. Side B includes the stripped-down “Straight Mix” by Carl Craig and the original version, both contextualizing and contrasting with the remix’s hypnotic layering. These versions bridge the gap between Allen’s percussive West African legacy and the futuristic soul of Carl Craig’s Detroit-infused house aesthetics.
