Infinition
Infinition is a 12″ EP released under the alias Quadrant by Berlin-based producers Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald, better known as Basic Channel. Originally issued in 1993 on Carl Craig’s Planet E label and later licensed to R&S Records, the EP features two tracks: “Infinition” and “Hyperprism.” These compositions blend Detroit techno influences with Basic Channel’s signature dub-infused minimalism, characterized by stripped-down 909 drum patterns, atmospheric synth textures, and hypnotic repetition. The EP was reissued by Basic Channel in 2004 as a remastered 45 RPM pressing (catalog number BC-QD) and received another reissue in 2023, reaffirming its status as a foundational release in the dub techno genre.
