w/ The Artists is a compilation album by Rhythm & Sound, the Berlin-based duo of Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald. Originally released in 2003 on Burial Mix, the album collects vocal collaborations from their influential 10″ vinyl series. Featured artists include Cornell Campbell, Jennifer Lara, Paul St. Hilaire, The Chosen Brothers, Jah Batta, Shalom, and Love Joys. These tracks fuse stripped-down dub techno rhythms with classic reggae and dancehall vocals, creating immersive, bass-heavy soundscapes steeped in sound system tradition. Burial Mix, a sublabel of Basic Channel, was founded to explore the intersection of minimal Berlin electronics and Jamaican vocal dub. Unlike the instrumental focus of Basic Channel or Chain Reaction, Burial Mix emphasized vocal presence and emotional weight. The 2023 reissue of w/ The Artists preserves the original mastering and sequence, reaffirming its status as a landmark in both dub and electronic music.
