Vainqueur: Lyot
Originally released in 1992 on the Maurizio label (catalog number M-2), “Lyot” is a seminal work by Vainqueur, the alias of Berlin-based producer René Löwe. The EP features two tracks: the “Original Mix” and the “Maurizio Mix,” the latter being a remix by Moritz von Oswald, co-founder of Basic Channel. The “Original Mix” is characterized by its deep, rolling basslines, hazy dub chords, and minimalist, syncopated percussion, encapsulating the essence of early dub techno. The “Maurizio Mix” offers a more stripped-down, hypnotic interpretation, emphasizing rhythm and atmosphere. Both versions play inside-out on the vinyl, a distinctive feature of this release
