Mango Walk
Mango Walk is a collaborative 12″ release featuring The Chosen Brothers and Rhythm & Sound, originally issued in 1998 on the Rhythm & Sound and Wackie’s labels. The A-side presents the 1979 track “Mango Walk” by The Chosen Brothers, produced by Lloyd “Bullwackie” Barnes and Azul, exemplifying deep roots reggae with rich dub textures. The B-side features “Mango Drive,” a reinterpretation by Rhythm & Sound—Berlin-based duo Mark Ernestus and Moritz von Oswald—who infuse the original with their signature minimalist dub techno aesthetic, characterized by spacious soundscapes and restrained rhythmic structures. This release bridges classic Jamaican dub with Berlin’s electronic minimalism, highlighting the transatlantic dialogue between the two genres. The 2025 reissue maintains the original’s integrity, offering a timeless exploration of dub’s evolution.
