Refunds & Returns Policy

At Analog Dreams, we take care in packaging and shipping your records to ensure they arrive safely and as described. However, if something goes wrong, we want to be fair while also recognising the nature of vinyl records and the limits of responsibility once an item leaves our store.

This policy applies only to retail records purchased through our online record store. It does not apply to custom lathe-cut or pressed records, each of which involves a dedicated QA process with the client prior to manufacture and is generally not returnable once produced, except in exceptional circumstances.

Change of Mind & Opened Items

We do not accept returns for change of mind.

Manufacturing Defects

If you believe your record is unplayable due to a manufacturing defect—such as warping, dishing, or being significantly off-centre—please contact us within 7 days of delivery. We will ask you to:

  • Provide a clear description of the issue.

  • Return the record to us at your expense for inspection.

If we confirm the record is unplayable due to a serious manufacturing defect, we will offer either:

  • A replacement (if available), or

  • A full refund, including a reasonable return shipping cost.

Please note: Minor surface noise, light crackle, slight warping, or small off-centre pressing that does not audibly affect playback are not considered defects. Vinyl records are an analogue format, and playback may vary slightly depending on your equipment, tonearm setup, stylus condition, anti-skate, and other factors.

About Vinyl Records

Vinyl records are a handmade product with inherent variability. The following characteristics are not considered faults:

  • Slight surface noise or crackle.

  • Minor visual blemishes or marks that do not affect playback.

  • Light warping or uneven surfaces that do not cause skipping or tracking issues.

  • A minor degree of off-centre pressing that does not audibly affect playback.

  • Records that arrive slightly dusty or with factory residue—we recommend cleaning your records before first play.

  • Slight cosmetic wear, corner bumps, or ring wear on outer jackets resulting from handling or transport.

While we pack records securely and with care, slight cosmetic imperfections to record sleeves during shipping are out of our control and are not considered serious defects. We do not offer refunds or replacements for minor jacket wear that does not affect the playability of the record itself.

Most records are sealed by the manufacturer, and we do not open or inspect each item prior to shipping unless stated otherwise. For this reason, we cannot guarantee visual perfection in every copy.

Our Commitment Under Australian Consumer Law

Under the Australian Consumer Law, you are entitled to a refund or replacement if a product is faulty, not fit for purpose, or does not match its description. This policy does not override your statutory rights.

We stand behind the quality of what we sell and will always work with you to resolve genuine issues within the framework of the law and our store policies.

How to Start a Return

To start the return process for a retail record purchased through our online store, please email sales@analogdreams.com.au and include:

  • Your order number

  • The title and artist of the record

  • A brief description of the issue

  • Photos or videos of the defect, if possible

This will help us assess and assist you as efficiently as possible.
